The Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), Tanzania, invites applications for a Master of Science (MSc) position under the DISPEST_2 project: “Redefining DISpersal potential for adequate fruit fly PEST management (Diptera, Tephritidae) – Second Phase”, funded by the Belgian Development Cooperation.
About DISPEST_2
The DISPEST_2 project focuses on gathering critical information about the distribution of major horticultural pests, particularly Tephritidae (Diptera), in Tanzania. The project aims to enhance existing data with new findings from ongoing and upcoming surveys. This knowledge is instrumental in designing cost-effective and environmentally sustainable pest control strategies.
Role and Responsibilities
The selected candidate will:
- Be based in the Department of Crop Science and Horticulture at SUA.
- Specialize in the morphological identification of fruit fly pests.
- Analyze distributional data to support targeted pest management strategies.
Eligibility
The call is open to students enrolled in the SUA MSc programme for the October 2024 session.
